How We Do It

Direct Action in schools and community.

Maji Jamii helps in constructing water and sanitation facilities, and actively participates in promotion of hygiene facilities in both schools and Maasai community.

As the water access continues to be a daily struggle for the remote pastorial settlements, the people are forced to travel far to fetch the unclean water from the nearby natural sources. This severely affects their hygiene and makes huge impact on the health of the Maasai population.

Our Hygiene promotion focuses on hand-washing and point of use treatment. We are continuously educate people and children about importance of maintaining high level of personal hygiene, for which clean water is one of the primary conditions.

Capacity Building

Capacity building initiatives undertaken by Maji Jamii not only targets community skills transfer for operation, management and maintenance of facilities, but also addresses the issues of governance.

We thrive to influence social and behavioural change in the community, as one of the ways to solve infrastructural challenges. By direct involvement we learn the obstacles and provide solutions to achieve the highest level of sanitation and hygiene in these remote homesteads.

Maji Jamii's conceptual framework, together with the vision and strategy will help bring positive impact on the well being for all.
